Thinking about removing a tattoo? You’re not alone. Laser tattoo removal is one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures, and at Aspire Training Clinics Perth, it’s performed using advanced laser technology within a supervised clinical environment.
Because every tattoo is different - in colour, depth, ink type and placement - your treatment plan is tailored specifically to you following a thorough consultation. Individual results may vary.
“ Using precise, high-energy laser pulses, the treatment works by targeting and fragmenting the tattoo ink particles in the skin, allowing the body’s immune system to gradually clear them away. ”
What can I expect during treatment?
From the moment you arrive, your comfort is our priority. Before treatment begins, your clinician will review your tattoo and discuss the process, expected sensations and what to look out for afterwards. A topical preparation can be applied to the treatment area for comfort. During the session, the laser handpiece is carefully passed over the tattoo, delivering controlled pulses of light that target the ink. You may feel a sensation similar to a warm snap with each pulse. Your clinician will monitor the skin’s response throughout to ensure both safety and your comfort.
What to expect post-treatment?
After your laser tattoo removal session, it’s normal to experience some redness and mild swelling in the treated area - this is a sign the treatment is working. The skin may appear temporarily white (called ’frosting’) immediately after treatment, which settles quickly. Over the following days, the area will continue to heal. Between sessions, you will notice the tattoo gradually fading as your body processes the fragmented ink particles. Results build progressively with each treatment, and individual results may vary.
FAQs
Sun protection is important in the lead-up to your treatment. Apply SPF 30+ to the area and avoid tanning, fake tan and direct sun exposure, especially on the treatment site. Please advise your clinician if you have had recent sun exposure or a sunburn on the treatment area, a history of cold sores or herpes simplex, or any history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring. Arrive with clean skin, free of skincare products or makeup on the treatment area. Your clinician will provide a personalised pre-care plan at consultation.
After your session, keep the treated area clean and gently protected. Ice packs may be used to reduce swelling in the first 48 hours. Avoid hot showers, baths, saunas and excessive heat exposure for 48 hours. Do not exfoliate or apply active skincare products to the treated area for at least one week. Keep the area out of direct sun and apply SPF 30+ as the skin heals. Do not pick, squeeze or scratch any blistering or crusting - let the skin heal naturally. Your clinician will provide you with a full post-care guide to take home.
Most clients find laser tattoo removal to be a very manageable experience. The sensation is often described as similar to a quick warm snap. A topical preparation can be applied beforehand to support comfort, and your clinician will check in with you throughout the session. The level of sensation can vary depending on the location of the tattoo and individual sensitivity.
Treatment time varies depending on the size and complexity of the tattoo. Smaller tattoos may take as little as 10-15 minutes per session, while larger or multicoloured tattoos may require longer appointments. Your clinician will give you an estimate at your consultation.
Laser tattoo removal is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Please advise your clinician of any changes to your health or medical status before your appointment so we can support you appropriately.
